1 Sept 2021 Dr Swanepoel and his team performed my bariatric surgery.
Fast forward to today, 4 years later, I have lost a total of 82kg. Believe it not, that is the smallest win of this journey. My entire life has changed. In fact, my life feels like it only started now. The non-scale victories are the most precious. Being able to do activities with my child, her not being bullied at school for how fat her mom is, walking into any shop and getting clothes that fit, fitting into airplane seats – the list goes on and on and on. I am forever grateful to my younger self for embarking on this journey and putting in all the hard work, because this is definitely no short cut or easy way out!
I am continuing to do the hard work and have entered for my first 70.3 Iron Man in November 2025 and I cannot wait to cross that finish line!
